30 Hour OSHA Construction Outreach Training
The OSHA 30 Hour Construction Outreach training course is designed for superintendents, foremen, employers, managers, contractors and experienced construction workers. This is more than the basic safety training that construction workers receive in the 10 Hour Outreach class. It is geared towards supervisors and management personnel who are required to analyze work place hazards and find workable and OSHA compliant solutions to the safety problems faced by their workers.
The OSHA 30 Hour Construction Outreach Training consists of the following topics per OSHA Outreach Guidelines:
30-Hour Mandatory Course Topics (12 Hours)
Introduction to OSHA
- O. S. H. A., the Act
- General Duty Clause
- Employer and Employee Responsibilities
- Whistle-blower Protection
- Record Keeping basics
- Inspections, Citations and Penalties
- General Safety & Health Provisions, Competent Person
- Value of Safety & Health
- OSHA Website, OSHA 800 number & available resources
OSHA Focus Four Hazards
- Fall Protection, Subpart M
- Electrical, Subpart K
- Struck by (e. g., falling objects, trucks, cranes, constructing masonry walls)
- Caught in/ between (e. g., trench hazards, unguarded machinery, equipment)
Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment, Subpart E
Health Hazards in Construction - (e.g. noise and crystalline silica, etc.)
Stairways and Ladders, Subpart X
30-Hour Elective Course Topics - At least 6 of the following topics (12 Hours)
- Fire Protection and Prevention, Subpart F
- Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal, Subpart H
- Tools - Hand and Power, Subpart I
- Welding and Cutting, Subpart J
- Scaffolds, Subpart L

The remaining six (6) class hours are used to instruct on other construction hazards or policies and/or to expand on mandatory or elective topics most relevant to the students.
The OSHA 30 Hour Construction Outreach training course takes place on three consecutive days of approximately ten hours each. A test will be taken on the final day. Students will receive a wallet card from HP&P Safety, a class completion certificate and a wallet card from The U. S. Department of Labor (OSHA) after completing this course. Receipt of the Dept. of Labor card takes approximately 4-6 weeks.
OSHA 30 HOUR OUTREACH - Safety training provides instruction on a variety of construction and industry topics, geared toward Supervisory level participants. A must for any foreman, superintendent, or those responsible for their company's safety and health program.
